Where can I get a recycling bin?

Recycling bins can be obtained at Borough office during normal business hours. There is no fee for the bins.

Do I need to put money in the parking meters on the weekends?

Yes, the parking meters are in operation on Saturday from 9pm until 5pm and on Sunday from 1pm until 5pm.


What days does the Borough provide garbage pick-up?

Thursday. Additonally the Borough provides curbside recycling pickup the same day.

Do I need a Moving Permit?

A Moving Permit is required when a resident is moving into, out of or within Jim Thorpe Borough.
The cost of a moving permit is 5 dollars and the form may be obtained at the Borough Office during normal Business hours.


When do I need an Occupancy Permit?

Occupancy permits are required when a resident builds a new structure. This Permit needs to be obtained by the resident prior to moving into their new residence. This application can be obtained directly from the Borough Office or the Building Officer.

Where can I pay my Water, Sewer or Sanitation bill?

Your bill may be paid in the follow means;

1.  Dropped off in the drop box located outside of the Borough building.

2   At either the Mauch Chunk Trust Company or the Jim Thorpe National Bank.

3.  In the Borough Office at 110 East Tenth St Jim Thorpe PA 18229.

What side of the street do I park on during a snow storm?

(a) When snow falls any time on an uneven calendar day the uneven side of the street shall be no parking  until 7pm that day.

(b) When snow falls on an even calendar day the even numbered side shall have no parking on the even numbered side of the streets until 7pm that day.

(c) Normal parking resumes after both sides of the streets are cleared.


(1) It starts snowing on December 5th at 11am. The uneven side of the streets shall be no parking until 7pm on December 5th. At 7pm on December 5th all vehicles must be moved to the uneven side of the street.

(2) It starts to snow on January 2nd at 8pm. The uneven side of the streets shall be no parking until 7pm on January 3rd. At 7pm on January 3rd all vehicles must be moved to the uneven side of the street.

Any residents that do not adhear to the Ordinance may have their car ticketed or towed at the owners expense. 


Is the Borough the Department of Health?

No, although the Borough does have a health officer for matters within the borough, but Pennsylvania has the actual Department of Health. The Pennsylvania Department of Health can be reached at 877-724-3258.
